(( This was something that first started off as me blogging a picture of Wesker from Resident Evil: Afterlife to tumbler then i felt like i should say something about the film so i did~
But each time i put a little something i just didn't feel it was complete or right to leave it at just that so i ended up writing this and posted it instead x'3
I was just going to put it on tumblr but i thought what the hell and upload it to deviantart as well :3 ))
Resident Evil: Afterlife
I do love Resident Evil: Afterlife, its defiantly one of the best out the lot :3
I have always loved the films i remember watching the first one and just being like *w* !
Honey comb maze i use to call the film as i could never remember the name of it xD
Yes i failed like that but non-the-less i loved it a lot!
But me being me i never thought of the name link to the games >.<"
I guess it was because at the time i wasn't that much of a game fan of it and well it was so different compared to the games i had played of the same name.
I later realised it was meant to be connected; thanks to the appearance of Jill Valentine in the second film i made the connection of the games and film.
Anyways i had a love for the films there was just something about it that i loved however after the 3rd one i started to loss hope in the film thinking they were dragging it out for the sake of money now.
So when i heard there was going to be a forth one i didn't know whether to be existed or worried.
Like a true fan of anything i still had to go see it to make up my mind~
I remember sitting in the cinema with my friend Charlie and not quiet knowing what to expect from it i certainly wasn't expecting to see much of the game in it.
However i was existed to see it after all it was a Resident Evil film. I had neutral feelings at what to expect, of course I knew Wesker was going to be in it thanks to the trailers I had seen so I was looking forward to seeing that, more so as i really got into playing Resident Evil 5.
But as I sat there and watched it I could not keep still in existent of it all.
I just loved it; my friend who i went to see it with was also my partner on Resident Evil 5 game as we chose to complete it together on ps2 so I sat there looking to her and the screen as more and more game elements popped into the film.
xD
She of course kept shaking her head and pretending she didn't know me i was getting that existed over it all.
I all honest i cant really say why it is i love the film so much i can only guess due to the film having a lot more of the game elements linked into the film whether it be the games story line or the charters but it defiantly seamed to become more of the gamers film~
I think the combination of the charters Alice, Clair, Chris and Wesker being in the film just made in go bam and had me unable to keep still in my seat, especially when Chris was introduced into the film as i had not expected that.
It was not only that but also the little sequel bit that's hidden after the credits with Jill returning just made it all that much more. <3 w <3
We can't leave out the zombies, they make the film! Even had changes make to them.
They had mutated more from the 'average' zombie to ones in the game that even include the dogs when they split in half.
Little detail like that goes unrecognised by the general view that has not played the games so it's depressing when they don't get the full excitement of watching the film due to that.
Let's also not forget the fantastic Background music that was included in the film, it was not only in my opinion the best sound track for all the films so far but also for most films i had ever seen.
There was something about the music that just made it that extra special and soon as i got out of that cinema i was at home buying the sound track and putting the songs onto my phone/mp3 player.
I do loved Tokyo and Umbrella tracks the most out of the lot as well of course The outside – A Perfect Circle. <3
There was a lot to this film that did make it so much better than all the rest even the smallest of things like the idea of using coins in the guns and the use of game charters made it enjoyable to watch.
However due to this film in my eyes being the best one yet it does have the biggest of flaws out of all the films put together such as bad CGI graphics, seen mostly at the begging with Alice using her 'powers' as well as the obvious wire work with some stunts.
I have always been a fussy person when it comes to graphics and CGI so when I saw the Resident Evil: Afterlife use of it I died on the inside!
It was appalling for a high ranked blockbuster such as this to use such low quality CGI i had to turn away in shame it was that bad, the problem with CGI is that it can really make or break a film and to have such bad quality in the being is a rocky mistake in the film industry.
The opening is key to any film it sets the mood and draws the waters in making it a real concept to them and when you have bad CGI it just destroys the illusion of the film, i think this is one of the biggest mistake the film made and partly the reason it got such bad reviews.
In saying all of that there was some good use of CGI in the film that does need to be noted like the Resident Evil executioner and Wesker's un-human movements. *w*
When I put my obsession with quality of graphics and CGI aside and paid attention to the story line ((another thing I'm fussy about)) even that was confusing…the biggest puzzle of the film was not only weather Alice did or did not have her powers/T-virus.
((That was confusing and never fully established throughout the film leaving a lot of un-answered questions for the viewer. I'm still puzzled about it today to be honest and i have seen that film at least four times now.))
But How the hell Chris and Clair Redfield got be hide Wesker without him noticing?!?!
When the only door to that room was the one be hide Alice and in front of Wesker … @_@
Did they teleport there or something? I guess we will never know.
There was a lot of improvements that film should of undergo before release or at least been thought out better, maybe if it had been the review wouldn't of been as bad as they where and maybe it would of attracted a wider and great audience as a result.
Oh well though it's a bit too late now let's hope they learn from them at least hay?
I know every film has its flaws and I could just being fussy but Resident Evil: Afterlife serenely had too many.
Yet I can't help but find myself loving it more and more each time I watch it …. Logic in that I that I can't understand, maybe it's because I'm a fan on the games so much and I'm just thankful for the turn of events in the film that has made it more based at us or just because they did so well with picking a good Wesker 8D
Who knows but I can certainly say that I am existed for the next film. <3
That should be interesting and existing, who knows maybe they will learn from their past mistakes with this film.
I also know there a lot more gamers view and opinion going to be present in the next film so maybe it could even beat this one, all we can do is hope and wait to see their result :3
However existed as i am with the film becoming more fan based it also give me a sense of worry.
As a result of the films becoming more amide at the gamers and fans the general viewers are getting lost and confused along the way and are not fully understand the attention to small detail like the change in zombies and the charters and so loss the appreciation that the details has on the films.
Maybe i am looking into this too much or maybe I'm over thinking it all but there is a reason why most 'game films' are not dedicated towards the fans and there is a reason why the film got appalling reviews.
-shrugs-
However one thing is for sure if the reviews and lack of interest due to the film become more amide at the gamers effect the box office strongly we could soon be saying good bye to the series.
I know all things come to an end, even Harry Potter but still i don't want to see it end in a rush and spoil the who thing due to the sudden lack of support for it.
I'm sure a lot of you guys feel the same way as well.
It's going to be while for the next film to be released but I'm sure no matter what it be worth the wait <3
